Yesterday, Operation HOPE client Derek Smith had his final consultation with Financial Management Consultant Patrice C. Washington, making him Atlanta?s first credit counseling graduate.??Derek signed up for one-on-one counseling after Patrice held her first Credit & Money Management workshop at the?Vision Church of Atlanta, where there were over 100 people in attendance.??The counseling program is no walk in the park- Derek is one of many who signed up for the one-on-one counseling that night, but will be one of few who saw the program all the way through, having worked diligently to follow his counselor?s recommendations.
Derek is excited to leave the Credit & Money Management portfolio with what he describes as ?a new mindset and way of thinking about money.? He also leaves HOPE with a significant amount in savings, 30% reduction in revolving debt and a debt elimination plan through 2013, as well as a 700+ FICO score! Derek plans on remaining in the HOPE family as he sets his sights on his long-term goal of homeownership.?
